Hasselblad Brand Rumored to Be Found on DJI Mavic 3

DJI's most significant release this year was the DJI Air 2S with 5.6K camera, which offers higher resolution video support compared to the current flagship Mavic 2 Pro, but lacks complete obstacle avoidance.

So, it seems likely DJI has something up it's sleeves. We are due for a refreshed flashship drone from DJI Global. :)

Many news outlets are posting leaks of a DJI Mavic 3 with dual cameras, pictured below.

  • Upgraded obstacle avoidance with wide-angle sensors moved to the corners of the drone
  • New camera module with two lenses, one with a 7x Zoom - another collaboration with Hasselblad
  • The other lens is a 24mm with F/2.8 Aperture (with 16mm adapter ring)
  • Shoots 5.7K video, possibly in Apple ProRes
  • Larger-capacity battery allows for 40-minutes of flight time
  • DJI Air 2S Radio System
  • DJI Mini 2 like: Battery will be inserted from back
  • 1TB or 2TB of storage
  • Originally, DJI planned to launch the product in October 2021.

There are rumours that there could be two models in development - Pro and Zoom, perhaps - and it may not use two different sensors, instead having an internal mirror to allow the sensor to be used for two lenses.

Some say that the new avoidance system will allow autonomous flight , while some believe that DJI will drop the Mavic branding, just as it has for the Mini and Air.

The DJI Mavic 3 was leaked last month by a Brazilian YouTuber, but it's already time to look forward. The company has launched the Osmo Mobile 5, which is lighter than its predecessor, but with lower battery life.

Since the Air 2S has 5.6K video, I am hoping whatever DJI comes up with next will have a resolution of 8K and the full suite of obstacle avoidance sensors.

I like what I see: the last drones are mostly the same, but of different sizes. We have something here that is a little more futuristic, and these dual cameras are very interesting. 7X optical zoom could be really useful for an epicly sweet dolly zoom.

What do you think? Will we be seeing a upgraded flagship Mavic drone later this year? Drop a comment below!
